Day by Day Activity Summary
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Start the climb through the rainforest; look out for colobus monkeys and unique forest plants before reaching Mandara Hut (2,700 m).
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Hike past heather and moorland to Horombo Hut (3,720 m), enjoying your first views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
Day 3: Horombo Hut – Acclimatization Day
An important day for acclimatization; hike towards Mawenzi Hut and back to Horombo Hut, boosting your chances of a successful summit.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Climb through alpine desert to Kibo Hut (4,700 m) at the base of the summit path; rest and prepare for the midnight ascent.
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut
Start your trek around midnight, reach Uhuru Peak for sunrise, then celebrate and descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate – Moshi
Descend through lush rainforest to the gate; receive your summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi.
