Lake Manyara National Park
Non game-viewing travel time: 3½ hours
Distance: 220 km
Pick up from Moshi and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park. We arrive in time for lunch and then head into the Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive. This national park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.
Dinner and overnight as per the standard and type of accommodation requested.
Serengeti National Park
Non-game-viewing travel time: 6 hours
Distance: 205 km
After breakfast, we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We’ll then head to the central park area, known as the Seronera, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts a wide variety of wildlife, representative of most of the Serengeti species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation requested.
Serengeti National Park
Be one of only a few fortunate people to glide in a Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). Floating silently above the awakening bush, while spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing scenery of Africa, across rivers and over numerous small villages.
After breakfast we will take a game viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, and where we’ll have good chance to see lions, Thomson gazelles, topi, ostrich and cheetahs. The visitor’s centre, not far from the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites, is well worth a visit after the morning’s game drive. This beautifully designed centre, offers several interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The centre also has a cafe where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center under the shade of giant acacia trees.
In the afternoon we will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attracts a number of lions and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons – including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink!
Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation requested.
Serengeti National Park
Non game-viewing travel time: 4 hours
Distance: 145 km
After breakfast at the lodge do we depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge,  which dates back to the dawn of time and the beginning of humanity. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of the’Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution.
We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge/camp and spend the afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and overnight as per the standard and type of accommodation requested on the crater rim, no accommodation is available inside the crater.
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast we descend 600m into this magnificent crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its huge population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor.
Dinner and overnight as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested on outside the crater.
Ngorongoro Crater
Non game-viewing travel time: 3½ hours
Distance: 155 km
After breakfast we depart for the Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African National Park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch we will have an afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight in the Tarangire National Park area, as per the standard and type of accommodation requested.
Tarangire National Park

Best Time For Safari in Tanzania
The best time to visit Tanzania depends on the wildlife you want to see. Tanzania’s seasons are shaped by the rains, offering unique experiences throughout the year. The Great Migration, the country’s main attraction, happens year-round across the Serengeti. From July to September, large herds of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River, facing crocodiles and other predators—a dramatic spectacle that draws many visitors.
If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting during the “green season” from November to March. Although there are occasional rain showers, it’s the perfect time for birdwatching as thousands of migratory birds arrive. You can also witness the Great Migration herds with their newborn calves during this lush and vibrant time.

What our traveler say about our services
Posted on James M23 October 2025Verified Best Guide in Moshi! I would sincerely recommend Twende Tours and Peter as one of the best guides I have ever been with. We spent such a wonderful day with Peter hiking to the Materuni waterfalls and then we went on a local coffee tour. Such a kind knowledgeable guide who has hiked to the top of Kili more than 140 times! Would really recommend Peter and Twende Tours.Posted on Alex B15 October 2025Verified Friendly Tour Tour guide was punctual and friendly. I enjoyed walking around Moshi and getting to see the markets, train station, and various other sights. The tour guide had expert knowledge of the area as a local and took his time showing me around, answering all my questions and even teaching me a little bit of Swahili!Posted on JL M28 July 2025Verified A moving encounter. An extremely warm Welcoming by the locals. Interesting exchanges on the way of life of the Malays. I thank Kariokai in particular for his kindness.Posted on Pankit P4 July 2025Verified SUMMIT WITH TWENDE I cannot sing enough praises for Peter and his team on our adventure of hiking Kilimajaro via Lemosho. From the very beginning, Peter was very prompt in answering all our questions and guiding us on what to expect on the journey. We were a group of 4 including 2 fifteen year olds.Baraka and Kalvin were our lead guides. They always made sure we were comfortable and set a comfortable pace for the journey. They were extremely patient knowledgeable. Every night we had a briefing of what the expect for the next day. Daily monitoring of our oxygen levels and heart rates. Shout out to our cook and waiter (Richie and David). I had previously read on blogs that we should be carrying our own hot sauces – Not with this chef. Full breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner + snacks for the road! Not one meal was repeated – and with a taste that can beat any established restaurant. The soups were the best. David made sure we were eating well to build stamina. The soul of our team were the porters, these guys know – and I’m not exaggerating, every rock in the terrain. They would pack up after we left for our hike, beat us to the next camp, have everything setup before we reached with hot meals ready to serve. Some porters would also make the trek back towards us, to take our backpacks and lighten the load – they operate as one team. When you see them going up and down these steep terrains, with the amount of weight on their backs, your own achievement of summitting becomes very humbling – they do it day in and day out. Baraka and Kalvin kept up a pace that was comfortable for us on summit night - with constant encouragement. We also had 2 extra summit porters to assist on the hike, and we could not have done it without them. Us coming from sea-level, carrying even 5 pounds on top the heavy clothing you’re wearing feels like carrying 40 pounds.Twende ensured that we tasted success and would not have been possible without the entire team. Would highly recommend Twende for your Kili Hike - Best of all, they are a local company and they treat everyone well!!!Posted on Prakash M1 July 2025Verified Moshi City Tour I had the pleasure of joining the Moshi City Tour led by Peter, and it exceeded all expectations. His deep knowledge of the city's history and culture, made the experience both educational and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of Moshi and its people.Posted on Soma A24 January 2025Verified Kilimanjaro Hike with Twende Africa In January 2025 i trekked Kili with Twende Africa and highly recommend this small, local business owned by Peter. All my needs were heard and accommodated by Peter and his team. Guide Eli is very friendly, knowledgeable and reliable. Everyone in the team did their part as was needed to make my hike a very enjoyable and memorable one! Thanks Peter and Twende Africa team 😊Posted on Florian n3 November 2024Verified It was a perfect trip for all of us We travelled with Tanzania specialist, and the trip was well organized. Our guide Wilson and his team were just perfect. Imme on hand if you needed something always friendly and a smile on your face, since hiking is fun. Wilson showed us the animals and plants in the rainforest and the higher we got the nicer the view. What I liked very much, he always chose the right pace so that we could reach the summit.Thank you for that. VolkmarPosted on Tamsin Z23 October 2024Verified Great forest walk Peter was an amazing guide and picked us up at our hotel and even brought us back again. He told us all about the different animals, trees and plants whilst the forest walk. He is so funny and his interest for wildlife is addictive and we loved to hear about his stories. He has a lot of experience and we would recommend going on a tour with him anytime. Thank you Peter for the lovely time!Posted on Road0748671095520 September 2024Verified Excellent Safari Guides Peter and his staff at Twende Africa Tours were excellent, professional, fun, and respectful! We had a great one day tour in Arusha National Park which was perfect for our time frame. Great driver! If you book through them they communicate very well right. Up to the time they pick you up!Posted on Sandra Lema18 September 2024Verified Mount Meru 4 days - awesome We have made the 4 days hiking to Mount Meru. It was a pleasure with the team. They helped with everything, our Guide Elli was very lovely and experienced, our cook Richard made better meals than in a hotel and the whole team was like a family. Highly recommended!Tripadvisor rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 61 reviews
