Tanzania‘s esteem as one of Africa’s greatest safari destinations constantly overshadows the fact that it has everywhere 800 kilometers of easy on the eyes Indian Ocean coastline to unravel – and that’s before you get to exotic Zanzibar and Tanzania’s distinct tropical islands.
With enough divergence to reckon it the epitome finale to a Tanzania Safari or as a stand-alone vacation, Tanzania Beach Holidays will appeal to all traveler. The beaches themselves are small number of the leading on the East African coast meanwhile the range of world-class dive sites will inspire scuba divers and snorkelers. Honeymooners will condole the secret and flexible beachfront lodges while parents will commiserate the range of family-friendly accommodation and activities available.
Tanzania’s truly 1,400 km visualize coastline is blessed mutually amazing beaches which are full for relaxing your mind. But if you are breathless a tropical bliss and small number of the roughly beautiful, brand spanking new Beaches in the reality, the archipelago of Zanzibar is your realized choice. These islands are located aside the Tanzania Travel, not by a wide margin from the largest asphalt jungle in Tanzania, the downtown of Dar es Salaam.
Lastly, a Tanzania Luxury Safari and Beach Holiday is hard to beat with Zanzibar offering some of the best beaches in the world.
Zanzibar Island, also known as Unguja, is by far the largest and most famous of the islands that make up the Zanzibar Archipelago. Zanzibar has such a diverse coastline that there are plenty of different experiences across the main island, from vibrant culture in the south to idyllic barefoot luxury in the north. There is plenty to see beyond stately palm trees, white beaches and water the colour of malachite – we’ve collected the best places to visit based on our numerous visits (and you can read here for the best time to visit Zanzibar).
Off the main island are also a series of much smaller islets that offer a more exclusive, away-from-the-crowds experience and are perfect for honeymooners and romantics. We take a look at where to go in Pemba, Mafia, Chumbe and Mnemba below.
Home to the island’s best and most idyllic beaches, the east coast is home to a wide range of lodges and hotels but the tidal aspect of the Indian Ocean may mean you have walk to go swimming or snorkelling.
As a rule, the further north on Zanzibar you go, the more private and less crowded the beaches are. The north coast is also least affected by the tidal range.
The island’s prime location, most of Zanzibar’s top-end accommodation is set on the north-east beaches. The diving is excellent here, there’s not much tidal variation and the archipelago’s best reefs of Mnemba Island lie about a kilometre or half a mile offshore.
The further south you go on Zanzibar, the more populated it becomes. And with people, comes culture – head south for cultural and spice tours along with more opportunities to engage with the locals.
There are plenty of beaches and resorts on the south-east of Zanzibar but the tidal range is more marked than other regions.
There are fewer lodges on Zanzibar’s west coast and it feels a little more remote but it is, of course, home to Stone Town, located on the island’s central-west coast.
Stone Town: Zanzibar’s historical capital No visit to Zanzibar would be complete without exploring the narrow, cobbled streets of Stone Town, a World Heritage Site and former capital of the main island. There are several places of interest scattered around town, not least Beit el-Ajaib (House of Wonders), a former sultan’s palace. Absorb the history, culture and cuisine of this former slave and ivory port on guided tours, or simply wander around at your own pace.

Posted on James M23 October 2025Verified Best Guide in Moshi! I would sincerely recommend Twende Tours and Peter as one of the best guides I have ever been with. We spent such a wonderful day with Peter hiking to the Materuni waterfalls and then we went on a local coffee tour. Such a kind knowledgeable guide who has hiked to the top of Kili more than 140 times! Would really recommend Peter and Twende Tours.Posted on Alex B15 October 2025Verified Friendly Tour Tour guide was punctual and friendly. I enjoyed walking around Moshi and getting to see the markets, train station, and various other sights. The tour guide had expert knowledge of the area as a local and took his time showing me around, answering all my questions and even teaching me a little bit of Swahili!Posted on JL M28 July 2025Verified A moving encounter. An extremely warm Welcoming by the locals. Interesting exchanges on the way of life of the Malays. I thank Kariokai in particular for his kindness.Posted on Pankit P4 July 2025Verified SUMMIT WITH TWENDE I cannot sing enough praises for Peter and his team on our adventure of hiking Kilimajaro via Lemosho. From the very beginning, Peter was very prompt in answering all our questions and guiding us on what to expect on the journey. We were a group of 4 including 2 fifteen year olds.Baraka and Kalvin were our lead guides. They always made sure we were comfortable and set a comfortable pace for the journey. They were extremely patient knowledgeable. Every night we had a briefing of what the expect for the next day. Daily monitoring of our oxygen levels and heart rates. Shout out to our cook and waiter (Richie and David). I had previously read on blogs that we should be carrying our own hot sauces – Not with this chef. Full breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner + snacks for the road! Not one meal was repeated – and with a taste that can beat any established restaurant. The soups were the best. David made sure we were eating well to build stamina. The soul of our team were the porters, these guys know – and I’m not exaggerating, every rock in the terrain. They would pack up after we left for our hike, beat us to the next camp, have everything setup before we reached with hot meals ready to serve. Some porters would also make the trek back towards us, to take our backpacks and lighten the load – they operate as one team. When you see them going up and down these steep terrains, with the amount of weight on their backs, your own achievement of summitting becomes very humbling – they do it day in and day out. Baraka and Kalvin kept up a pace that was comfortable for us on summit night - with constant encouragement. We also had 2 extra summit porters to assist on the hike, and we could not have done it without them. Us coming from sea-level, carrying even 5 pounds on top the heavy clothing you’re wearing feels like carrying 40 pounds.Twende ensured that we tasted success and would not have been possible without the entire team. Would highly recommend Twende for your Kili Hike - Best of all, they are a local company and they treat everyone well!!!Posted on Prakash M1 July 2025Verified Moshi City Tour I had the pleasure of joining the Moshi City Tour led by Peter, and it exceeded all expectations. His deep knowledge of the city's history and culture, made the experience both educational and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of Moshi and its people.Posted on Soma A24 January 2025Verified Kilimanjaro Hike with Twende Africa In January 2025 i trekked Kili with Twende Africa and highly recommend this small, local business owned by Peter. VolkmarPosted on Tamsin Z23 October 2024Verified Great forest walk Peter was an amazing guide and picked us up at our hotel and even brought us back again. He told us all about the different animals, trees and plants whilst the forest walk. He is so funny and his interest for wildlife is addictive and we loved to hear about his stories.
