Daily Schedule On Mt. Kilimanjaro

A typical day on Mount Kilimanjaro with Twende Africa Tours begins before sunrise. Our friendly camp staff brings you warm water to freshen up and a hot drink to start your day right. After a gentle wake-up, you’ll get ready, pack your day bag, and head to the mess tent for a tasty breakfast and a quick health check. Then it’s time to hit the trail around 8 AM, hiking at a slow, steady pace—“pole pole” as we say in Swahili. Along the way, we take regular breaks to rest, enjoy snacks, and take in the stunning scenery. Your guides are always with you, watching for signs of altitude sickness and ensuring everyone is doing well.

Around midday, we stop for lunch—sometimes a hot meal in a tent, other times a picnic—before continuing the hike to the next camp. When you arrive, your tent and duffel bag will be waiting. You’ll change into dry clothes, unwind with a hot drink and snack, and relax before dinner. Some afternoons include a short acclimatization hike to help your body adjust, while others are for resting. After dinner and a health check, you can chat with fellow trekkers, write in your journal, or head to bed early. With Twende Africa Tours, everything is taken care of—so you can focus on enjoying the journey to the Roof of Africa.
